Who are we?
Creative problem solvers, here to deliver you extraordinary solutions.
We are Molly and Shanley, aka the Bread & Butter Club, aka the marketing duo that specializes in small businesses. At our studio, we are passionate about the local community and connecting businesses with their targets. We teamed up to create the Bread & Butter Club based off a shared dedication to cooperation and collaboration over competition.
We design realistic solutions to real-world obstacles based on our collective knowledge and extensive experience in the marketing and design industry.
Our focus is on small businesses because we strongly believe that they are a vital part of a happy city and economy. We love developing creative and big ideas for small businesses, and helping business owners achieve their goals without sacrificing their values.
As born and raised Calgarians, we know this city inside and out, and as creatives we find answers to problems that are outside the ordinary.
When you need something outside of the regular “agency” or “firm” to help your business develop into its optimal state, we are here to guide you along the way. Want to know more about what we can do for you?
As a graduate from Alberta University for the Arts (formerly Alberta College of Art and Design) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, I am driven to make a change in our community through creativity and creative problem solving. Since graduating in May 2017, I’ve become interested in using my skills to empower businesses to become the best versions of themselves. I have years of experience in administration and management, which gives me a unique point of view when it comes to small businesses in all industries.
As an artist, I have completed residencies in Canada and abroad, and completed several solo and group shows. My art practice focuses on navigating pop culture through the lens of end-stage capitalism.
I am a fourth generation Japanese-Canadian, and call the Beltline of Calgary my home. My dog is an albino chihuahua named Mayonnaise who loves to sleep with his tongue sticking out.
Shanley Maguire is a graphic communications and marketing professional, who is born and raised on Treaty 7 Land in Calgary, AB. Her formal education is within the printing industry and marketing, however, her interests go beyond: she is a city planning and placemaking nerd, loves transit, is an active political animal, and always looking to learn about all things food security, ecology, sustainability and the environment.
Since graduating from Ryerson University’s School of Graphic Communications Management with a minor in Marketing, Shanley has been working as a freelance. Her skills range from data and information systems, management and coaching, print production, marketing and public relations, copy writing, graphic design for print and digital applications, and website design and development. Her efforts are focused on igniting the potential she see in our dynamic and ever-changing world, while understanding the complexity of marrying today's digital obsessions with valuable face-to-face interactions.
Shanley’s passion and goals are about supporting creatives and small business owners working towards reaching their optimal capacity through creative problem-solving and design. By organizing ideas and goals, making actionable plans, and implementing and executing strategies, she’s guided small business owners through building businesses from the ground up, as well as revamping their existing business. Her ability to think critically, leads her to add value to client's diverse needs and unique sensibilities.
When she’s not working? You’ll find her spending time in Calgary’s parks, exploring Calgary by foot and walking her dog while listening to audiobooks and podcasts.
